Adopt a lion and help WWF to protect the magnificent king of the big cats with a truly meaningful gift for a friend or loved one.

Why adopt a lion?

Lions seem powerful, yes, but in truth they are vulnerable and greatly endangered.

In just a few decades their numbers have significantly dropped in Africa and their population is rapidly declining even further.

You can choose how much you want to donate each month and select which Lion gifts you’d prefer.

In the 1950s there used to be up to 400 000 of lions roaming around in the wilderness whereas now there’s perhaps only around 30 000 of them left.

The lions in Africa are mainly seen in designated reserve areas and national parks but in the wilderness there are very few of them left.

Their habitat loss and conflicts with humans have taken a drastic toll on them, so much so that lion is now considered to be vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
